Background

Due to the pandemic in 2020, Taiwanese student racing teams have lost the opportunity to participate in international competition, the idea of holding student race car competition locally has gradually emerged in my mind since then.

After entering into the automotive industry, I observed the gap between acdemia and industry, and decided to take on the responsibility as the chairman of Formula Student Taiwan(FST2022). My mission was to hold a "complete" competition in Taiwan, which included inspections, dynamic events, and most importantly, bridging the students and industry.

Role: Chairman

  1. Establishing and Leading nearly 40 members to organize the competition.

  2. Proposing 30+ presentations to cooperate with different industries and institutions.

  3. Continued communicating with Student Teams to provide the best experience.

  4. Fund-rasing for over 50,000 USD.

Goal & Vision

Formula Student Competition will become a bridge to connect with industry and a platform for technology education. The talents gathered here will become the fresh blood to the industry and an asset for shaping tomorrow's world.

Challenges

One of the most challenging goals was bringing professional engineers and students on the same page. We set up several online seminars to introduce student race cars to the judges from the industry. Eventually, the experienced engineers were impressed by the students' design, and students were given valuable advice on development.

On Site

The competition held in one of the largest race track in Taiwan.

Openning Ceremony/ Seminar

Openning ceremony to show our appreciation to sponsors and partners.

Nearly 100 professors from different colleges attended this event, we promoted how student race car could achieve a more pratical education.

Static Event

Tilt Test, to validate the center of the garvity of the race car is low enough from turning over.

Inspection, our judges check if the design of the student race cars meet the international regulations.

Dynamic Event

Acceleration Event, testing the acceleration and the top speed of each car.

Skid pad event, validate the performance of suspension of the car.
